In the Quarterfinals of the 2025 WSF U23 World Squash Championship held today in Karachi, Pakistan, the Women’s No.4 seed, Chan Sin Yuk Simmi initially trailed against the 5/8 seed, Midorikawa Akari from Japan, who led 5-3 in the opening set. Simmi quickly adjusted her strategy and ultimately won decisively in three straight games (11-7, 11-3, 11-1) in 17 minutes, securing a medal for the Team Hong Kong, China.
The other two Hong Kong, China Women’s players, 5/8 seed Fung Ching Hei Heylie and Tse Yee Lam Toby, were unfortunately failed to advance to the next matches. Heylie lost 0-3 to No.3 seed Malaysian Aira Azman, while Toby eliminated by the top seed Fayrouz Abouelkheir from Egypt.
While our Men’s players Lam Shing Fung Matthew and Au Lap Man Rex were competed in the Special Plate today. Matthew lost 1-3 to Will Salter from England, while Rex won Hugo Lafuente Jaen from Spain 3-0 to advance.
Tomorrow afternoon, Chan Sin Yuk Simmi will face the 5/8 seed Xin Ying Yee from Malaysia in the Women’s Semifinals. Let's cheer for Simmi!
