Hong Kong Squash Championships 2017 has finally come to a successful end. Au Chun Ming Leo and Au Wing Chi Annie claimed the Hong Kong Champion together for the third time with the supports of the ecstatic crowds at Hong Kong Squash Centre today.
The women’s final was a repeat of last year between the defending champion Annie Au and Joey Chan. Though Joey took the lead in the beginning and third game, Annie fought hard to retain her title tonight by winning the seesaw game at 7-11,11-8,9-11,11-2,11-6.
In the men’s final, Leo Au led the first two games however, Max Lee came back stronger to level up the match to the decider. In the fifth, Leo pulled off a better start to close the match in five at 11-7, 11-8, 6-11, 1-11, 12-10. This is his fourth Hong Kong Champion title after 2012, 2013 and 2015.
Liu Tsz Ling and Yip Tsz Fung claimed the second runner-up respectively. Yip Tsz Fung defeated Tang Ming Hong at a straight whereas Liu Tsz Ling won over Tong Tsz Wing in a tough see-saw game.
Prize Presentation Ceremony was followed after the men’s final. Mr. David Mui, MH JP the chairman of Hong Kong Squash gave a congratulatory speech and presented the awards along with Mr. Yeung Tak Keung, Commissioner for Sports of Home Affairs Bureau, Mr. Duncan Chiu, Vice Chairman of Hong Kong Squash, Mr. Cedric Tyen, Honorary Secretary of Hong Kong Squash and Mrs. Heather Deayton, and Mr. KK Chan Members of General Committee of Hong Kong Squash to all the winners.
