Annie Au became the first Hong Kong player to reach the quarter finals of PSA World Championships which is being held in Chicago, United States.
The current world no. 12 Annie Au defeated the former world no.1 Laura Massaro of England in a comfortable straight win. Annie took control throughout the whole match to claim an 11-9, 11-8, 11-4 victory in 33 minutes. She will meet the Egyptian Nour El Tayeb on 27th (local time).
“I am very happy with my performance today and proud to be the first Hong Kong player to get through to the last eight.” the delighted Annie said after match.
Another Hong Kong women’s player, Joey Chan who made her debut appearance in the Round three, will play against the world no.3 Joelle King of New Zealand on 26th Feb (local time) for the quarter finals position.
On the other hand, Leo Au who also reached the round three for the first time, was halted by the defending champion Mohamed Elshorbagy of Egypt in straight game.
