The 5-day 30th Asian Junior Individual Championships was completed today, in which Team Hong Kong, China concluded with achieved one Gold, one Silver and 5 Bronze medals.
Listed as the top seed of the GU15 event, our home player Tang Helen fought a tough battle against the second seed, the last GU13 champion, Harleein Tan in the final. Helen took the opening two games to lead but was dropped two games by the Malaysian girl. After adjustment, she came back to winning her first title in AJIC 3-2 (11-8, 11-8, 8-11, 3-11, 13-11) in 54 minutes.
The second seed and last U15 silver medalist, Kwong Ena once again played her old enemy, top seed Indian player Anahat Singh in the GU17’s final today and eventually lost by 1-3 (5-11, 6- 11, 11-6, 9-11) to obtain the runner-up title.
Besides, BU15 Wong Hon Yin Jeffrey and GU15 Tang Lok Yin earned first places in the Plate event while BU17 Cheng Ting To Brogan and BU13 Tang Wai Hong resulted in second places.
