The biggest junior squash event in town, HEAD Hong Kong Junior Squash Open 2016 came to a successful close after the five days of competitions. All the finalists from the 10 divisions performed their best squash in front of the packed and appreciative crowds at the exhibition court in Hong Kong Squash Centre. More than 500 audiences witness the triumph of Ryunosuke Tsukue and Satomi Watanabe in BU19 and GU19 respectively.
The first seed Satomi Watanabe set her place in the GU19 Final to meet Ho Ka Wing from Hong Kong today. Without much challenge, Watanabe claimed her first GU19 champion in Hong Kong Junior Open at a comfortable 3-0.
In the BU19, the top seed Ryunosuke Tsukue from Japan retained his title after a hard fought final with the second seed Ng Ka Yiu. Ka Yiu started the first game strong to lead at 11-9 however, the defending champion came through to finish better in the close four games at 9-11, 11-7, 11-5, 11-4 to claim his second consecutive title.
Meanwhile, Lui Hiu Lam and Renee Wu claimed the champion title in GU17 and GU13 respectively. Hiu Lam dispatched her compatriots Cheng Nga Ching at a straight game whereas Renee Wu overcame her fellow Wong Po Yui in five sets.
Other local players also achieved some great results while Wong King Yeung, Chan Sin Yuk and Lee Chung Hin captured the 1st Runner-up in BU17, GU15 and BU11.
