Asian Junior Squash Team Championships marked to the 17th edition. Total of 18 matches were seen on the first day of Bright Smart Securities 18th Asian Junior Squash Team Championships 2017 at Hong Kong Squash Centre. Both Hong Kong Boys and Girls team secure the top spot while other seeded teams also claimed the top places in the pool matches.

In the boy’s team, Hong Kong, the local favourites, consisting of Lai Cheuk Nam, Chan Wui Ki, Chan Chi Ho and Ho Ka Hei ranked at the first spot in Pool B after winning two comfortable straight games against Singapore and Chinese Taipei. The defending champion Malaysia also safely get through with two wins over Singapore and Malaysia to stand at the second spot.

Meanwhile, Pakistan took charge in Pool A by defeating Korea and Macau at 3-0 whereas India came as the first seed followed after to place at the second as they beat Japan and Korea at 3-0 and 2-1 respectively.

In the girl’s team event, the second seed Hong Kong featuring with Lui Hiu Lam, Cheng Nga Ching, Chan Sin Yuk and Tang Yan Yi clinched a comprehensive victory over Sir Lanka to top at Pool B.

The top seed and defending champion, Malaysia passed through Macau and Chinese Taipei to dominate in pool A.

The pool matches will continue tomorrow at Hong Kong Squash Centre for free admission, Hong Kong boys team will face Sri Lanka and Jordan at 10am and 3pm respectively whereas the girls team will meet India at 12:30pm.
