The quarter finals of the 19th Asian Squash Championship were completed yesterday, Max Lee, Leo Au, Annie Au and Tong Tsz Wing eased through to semi-finals.
The defending champion Leo Au took on his compatriot Yip Tsz Fung from a game down to regain the lead to claim the win at 10-12,12-10,11-6,11-4 whereas the first seed Max Lee overcame Indian Harinderpal Sandhu at a straight 11-8, 11-9, 11-8 to reach his first Asian Championship semi-final.
Max Lee and Leo Au will compete against Nafiizwan Adnan of Malaysia and Saurav Ghosal of India for the final position respectively.
For the women's event, Top seed Annie Au defeated the young Japanese Satomi Watanabe in a straight game 11-5, 11-6, 11-3 to seal her spot to meet the Indian Dipika Pallikal Karthik in the semis.
Another Hong Kong player, Tong Tsz Wing claimed one of her biggest wins by dispatching her fellow and third seed Joey Chan in four games at 6-11, 11-9, 11-6 and 11-7 to confirm her first semi-finals playing against another India Joshana Chinappa.
