Title-sponsored by Kowloon Cricket Club and subvented by Leisure & Cultural Services Department, the 5-day KCC PSA Challenge Cup 2023 was completed successfully at the Kowloon Cricket Club yesterday.
The Women's 2nd seed, Hong Kong young player Cheng Nga Ching defeated Seed 4 Akari Midorikawa from Japan in straight games in semi before matching up with top seed Malaysian Aira Azman in final. Cheng fought hard but lost to her opponent by 0-3 (8-11, 8-11, 7-11) to come second in this PSA Challenger 10 event.
The home crowd favorite seed 9/16 Ling To Yu won his maiden runner up of a PSA Challenger 10 event by firstly eliminated his teammate Ho Ka Hei in 3-1 in semi, but was then beaten by the 3rd seed, Abdullah Almezayen from Kuwait in 0-3 (10-12, 11-13, 1-11) in the final.
In addition to the two runner-ups, Tang Ming Hong and Ho Ka Hei each won the men’s third place at the tournament.
The Prize Presentation Ceremony was held right after the two finals, with the presence of Mr. Alexandre Rego, President of Kowloon Cricket Club and Mr. Chu Kin Wai Oscar, Assistant Leisure Manager I (Sports Funding) of the Leisure and Cultural Services Department to present trophies to all winners.
