Organized by Hong Kong Squash and subvented by Leisure & Cultural Services Department, the Men's and Women's Championships of "Hong Kong Squash Championships 2022” will be held from 31 July to 6 August 2022 at Hong Kong Squash Centre. As the most prestigious local tournament, it attracts the top local players and squash enthusiasts to take part in challenging themselves through the tournament every year. 

The Men’s Champions of 2021 Yip Tsz Fung was unable to participate in this tournament due to injury; while the last Women’s Champions Lee Ka Yi slotted as a 3/4 seed and strive to defend the title. The Men's duo of the World Doubles, Leung Chi Hin Henry and Lau Tsz Kwan Alex seeded as the top and 2nd seed players in the Men’s Main Draw respectively; while the top two Women’s seeds belong to Ho Tze Lok and Chan Sin Yuk. Besides, some Hong Kong Squash players will receive byes and will join the second round event which will be held on 1 August.

Meanwhile, our senior Men’s squash player, the 3/4 seed Max Lee mentioned that it would be his farewell tournament; while the Hong Kong Women’s squash player Liu Tsz Ling, who announced her retirement on social media last night, confirmed not to take part in the Championship this year.

Max Lee and Liu Tsz Ling have been full-time squash athletes for over 10 years. They have represented Hong Kong in attending numerous international tournaments and also achieved excellent results before stepping away from the sports. Hong Kong Squash sincerely thank them for their effort over the years and wish them all the best and success in their new chapter.

Regarding the government's latest social distancing measures, after careful consideration, Hong Kong Squash (HKS) has decided that all the matches from 31 July to 3 August and some matches from 4 to 6 August will be organized as a closed-door event to balance the safety of players and public health. Only players, officials and tournament personnel are allowed for admission. However, in order to invite the public to join this remarkable annual squash event, each player can apply one coach/ relative/ friend in spot to watch a live match in the designated area.

Besides, the tournament is free admission from 4 to 6 August 2022 with limited seating. 80 seats per day will be opened for the pre-registered spectators to come for the Quarter-finals, Semi-finals and Finals at the Exhibition Court, G/F of the Hong Kong Squash Centre.

In addition, RTHK live broadcast the Semi-finals and Finals on 6 August, and the official live streaming will be provided on Hong Kong Squash’s official YouTube channel and Facebook Fan Page from 5 to 6 August to let every one of you enjoy the exciting live actions of the Hong Kong Champions. 

HKS will continue to take public health and safety as our top priority. All HKS staff, players, media and spectators shall comply with the latest Guidelines for Hong Kong Squash Activity under COVID-19 outlined by HKS and the latest regulations and guidelines by the Government.
