Title sponsored by Kowloon Cricket Club, organized by the Squash Association of Hong Kong, China, subvented by the Culture, Sports and Tourism Bureau (Art and Sports Development Fund), supported by the Leisure and Cultural Service Department, the KCC 120th Anniversary Challenge Cup concluded successfully this evening (September 21) at the Kowloon Cricket Club after 5-consecutive days of the tournament.
The Women’s final was contested between two local players - the top seed, Hong Kong, China player Fung Ching Hei Heylie, and Kwong Ena. Fung Ching Hei Heylie successfully claimed her first PSA 6K title in straight sets (11-9, 11-9, 11-5) over Ena.
And the Men’s 2nd seed, home player Wong Chi Him met the 6th seed Egyptian Yassin Shohdy in the final today. Yassin Shohdy was in great form, taking the first two sets by 11-7 and 11-5. Wong Chi Him then found his form and took the match to a decider with consecutive 11-4 and 11-8 wins. Yassin Shohdy resisted the pressure in the final game and won by 12-10.
The Prize Presentation Ceremony was held after the Men’s Final. Mr. John Y-M Wong, the Vice Chairman of the Squash Association of Hong Kong, China and Mr. Aaron Yip, Squash Convener of Kowloon Cricket Club presented the prizes to the winners.
